Update: Thanks to Jeff of Protein Wisdom (and thanks again for the luv!), I see a post up at Threshold Negative 55 with lots of pictures and commentary to continue to round out the story. These people, I'm sure, are not interested in "protest" at all: instead, they relish violence and ignore more peaceful and appropriate ways of making their point.

Again, these idiots who are demonstrating are not exercising their right of free speech, or of free assembly. Neither of these rights condones gratuitous violence, and certainly not against duly appointed officers of the law.
This is disgraceful!

My prayers go out to this policeman and his family. I pray that he heals quickly and completely, and soon returns to his job.
