Yet another reason to remove Newsweak from your reading library: BLACKFIVE: Major Mathew Schram's Memorial Day.
The one part that I left out of this post is that Major Schram's convoy was followed by a car with a Newsweek reporter in it. Once the action began, the reporter and his driver turned and got the hell out of there. If it wasn't for Mat's charge up into the ambushers, they never would have made it out of there alive.
Newsweek never ran a story about my good friend, Mat.
It took a few weeks for me to decide what to do.
I had been reading Stephen Den Beste, Bill Whittle, Frank J.'s IMAO, and Misha for awhile at that point.
I started Blackfive and decided to write about Mat and other Americans like him - people that Newsweek would never tell you about.
It's Mat Schram's blog as much as it is mine.
So, today, on the anniversary of the sacrifice of my friend, please take a moment to pray for the families who have lost their loved ones in our fight against terror. Mat would have liked that.
When Newsweak prefers to run stories that smear the United States and our honorable armed forces, when they can't even get a simple apology correct, and when they have clearly shown themselves to be anti-American in word, thought and deed... How can a patriotic American, in good conscience, read such a rag?
Go read Blackfives' whole story about Maj. Schram, and then give devout thanks to whatever diety you acknowledge that the United States gives her best, who do their best, and therefore we shouldn't tolerate anything but the best.
SeeBS and Dan Rather. CommunistNewsNetwork and Eason Jordan. And now Newsweak and Michael Isikoff. In the immortal words of General George S. Patton:
America loves a winner. America will not tolerate a loser. Americans despise a coward. Americans play to win. That's why America has never lost a war, for the very thought of losing is hateful to an American.
I submit to you that Newsweak wants America to lose.
