Misha, the Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler, has reminded me of my duty to pray in the face of this storm. There are so many people in its path who I know (a bit) from their blogs, and so many more who are leaving their homes. Those homes and those cities may now be there to come back to.
And so, I would ask you all to join in prayer - or a moment of silence - for those in harm's way, as well as continue your diligent prayer for those already affected by Katrina.
Father in Heaven, You are all powerful, all Your ways are good and holy, and You are Sovereign over all the Universe. We know that many of these tragedies are happening because we live in a sin-cursed world, yet we would implore You to show forth Your great mercy. We humbly ask that You lift Your hand and protect our brothers and sisters in the path of the storm, we ask - if it is Your will - that You display Your power and disberse this monster storm.
We praise you, Lord, for You are holy, holy, holy. You are the Lord of Hosts, the Lord God Almighty, and Your Name is worthy above all names. All good things come from Your hand.
We ask for Your guidance, Your strength, Your steadfastness, and Your love and compassion as we cope with this trial You have chosen to permit. Help us, Lord, we pray, to be faithful to You, and to reveal Your power in a nation so richly blessed by You.
In the Name of Your beloved Son, let it be so!
Amen.
:-)
