This is Christmas Eve - the night of our Savior's birth.
How can we truly celebrate His birth and His love for us? I think that it is impossible - but we may, in humble worship - offer what we can. This is my little offering of thanksgiving to my Savior - the Man who is God, Who came down to a sinful earth so that He could redeem... Me!
O, my God and Father! Christ, my Lord, Brother and Redeemer! I thank You and praise You for the work You have done. I pray that Your grace be lived in my life, so that You may be glorified and proclaimed throughout the world.
O holy night, the stars are brightly shining;
It is the night of the dear Savior’s birth!
Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope, the weary soul rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees, O hear the angel voices!
O night divine, O night when Christ was born!
O night, O holy night, O night divine!Truly He taught us to love one another;
His law is love and His Gospel is peace.
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother
And in His Name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
Let all within us praise His holy Name!
Christ is the Lord! O praise His name forever!
His pow’r and glory evermore proclaim!
His pow’r and glory evermore proclaim!
He breaks chains and frees us from sin! His Name vanqueshes all opression and pain, and hymns of joy rise to proclaim His power and grace!
O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by.
Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting Light;
The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.For Christ is born of Mary, and gathered all above,
While mortals sleep, the angels keep their watch of wondering love.
O morning stars together, proclaim the holy birth,
And praises sing to God the King, and peace to men on earth!How silently, how silently, the wondrous Gift is giv’n;
So God imparts to human hearts the blessings of His Heav’n.
No ear may hear His coming, but in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive Him still, the dear Christ enters in.
How quiet and humble this Holy Gift! Modest and self-effacing, and yet powerful and holy! Who else but God Himself would have blessed us with Salvation in so simple and humble a fashion!
O holy Child of Bethlehem, descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin, and enter in, be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels the great glad tidings tell;
O come to us, abide with us, our Lord Emmanuel!
This IS Christmas Eve... Have you asked God to come in and abide - to live, to dwell, to co-habit - with you? Have you submitted yourself to this Holy Child, Who loves you beyond measure?
Come to Him, abide in Him, be blessed and cherished by Him... Receive the gift of eternal life and joy in the Child born this morn.
Our Lord, Emmanuel - God with us!
