The people who walked in darkness
Have seen a great light;
Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death,
Upon them a light has shined. (Isaiah 9:2, NKJV)
It has come yet again - the blessed season of the First Advent of Jesus the Christ, Lord and Savior!
The Lord of Heaven and Earth, the Sovereign of the Universe, the Almighty Creator, at a time and a place in history and reality, came to this world and dispelled the darkness of sin and death. We, who had walked in the darkness since Adam and Eve fell in Eden, were blessed by the birth of the Bright and Morning Star in Bethlehem, two thousand years ago.
Break forth, O beauteous heavenly light,
And usher in the morning;
O shepherds, shrink not with afright,
But hear the angel’s warning.
This Child, now weak in infancy,
Our confidence and joy shall be,
The power of Satan breaking,
Our peace eternal making.
Welcome, Lord! Welcome to Your kingdom! Reign in our hearts and in our lives, and bring Your perfect peace to all the world!
This year, it is my hope and my prayer that I will remember to post something each day about the Birth of the Christ - I plan to use Scripture and classic hymns, mostly, but I daresay that I will also add devotionals, quotes, and worship songs along the way. Each post will have a link (assuming I don't forget, LOL) to the previous day and the next day, and will culminate on Christmas Day with the historical account from the Gospel of Luke (of course!).
I ask you to join with me this season in joy and thanksgiving for the Greatest Gift Ever Given, and I encourage you to add your thoughts, prayers, and suggestions of Scripture, song, and quotes for me to post on. I'm sorry to have to add that the comments in this series will be closely monitored, and there will be absolutely NO leeway in my requirements for courtesy and respect.
May the gracious Sovereign, our Lord and Savior, bless you with the Light of His Son this year. May you and your family and friends rest in His love and partake in the joy only He can bring.
Welcome, Jesus!
And, just to let y'all know, Adam's Blog is promoting and hosting a Carnival of Christmas! Please let everyone know by promoting this on your blog and then linking to it when he puts it up. Wonderful idea; I'm very glad that someone thought of it!
Next post ...
Thanks for the help, this is a great idea to do a post a day about Christmas. I know it can be hard to keep up with particularly during this busy time of year, but good luck on it.

Isaiah 9:2 is included in Handel's Messiah as a bass aria, and J.S. Bach wrote beautiful music for "Break forth, O Beauteous Heavenly Light."
I ask you to join with me this season in joy and thanksgiving for the Greatest Gift Ever Given...
AMEN!
