Danville police say one of the men who tried to invade a North Avenue home has died.[...]
The resident told police that four armed men forced open the front door of his house and started to come inside.
The resident fired several shots at the intruders, striking at least one who was found in the doorway. He died later at Danville Regional Medical Center....
Good. If armed men tried to force their way into MY home, I'd shoot them, too!
I must admit that I'm astonished at the effontery of these unnamed men - this is not the more cosmopolitan North Virginia. Most young men, from what little I've seen so far, grow up with guns, know how to use them, and are very aware that a goodly portion of homeowners do, too.
Well, apparently at least three men are still at large. Time to triple check the ammo and the firing mechanisms on our guns, and make sure that they are close to hand if necessary. 'Cause the Beloved Husband and I have a Darling Munchkin and ourselves to protect...
That's one that you won't find in the major media or in any of Michael Moore's films. Gun control means aiming straight.

Odd, I thought gun control meant hitting the target. ;)
It's at this end of the Commonwealth that they forget the definition.

Actually, Woody and Lysander, you are both right, as you must aim straight in order to hit your target. But, beyond that, come to the south (Texas especially), and you will be afforded the opportunity to be taught by former military, former police (or possibly ACTIVE police) in the proper care/use of a fire arm, the responsibility that comes with owning a fire arm, and what happens if you must brandish or use your weapon. I have been through this class and it is one of the best experiences I have ever had. We even have hunting safety courses for youth, and they are taught young that guns are not inherently bad, just that they are dangerous and require a HIGH degree of care and responsibility.
HI KAT!
