... the only problem with that, from our perspective, is that it's GOD who defines "good," and not us.
Certainly, if you are "good" according to God, you will absolutely go to Heaven! To be good in God's eyes, however, means that you have lived a perfect life. Not "perfect since you were an adult." Not "perfect since you saw the error of your ways." God says "perfect from the day you were born."
Anybody want to come forward and tell me that they have never done anything wrong according to whatever religious worldview you hold? No? I didn't think so.
God's standard is perfection. Absolute holiness and righteousness in word, thought and deed one hundred percent of the time.
You can't do it. I can't do it.
There was only one Man who ever did it, and tomorrow we remember the day of His voluntary sacrifice on the Cross to pay for OUR sin, our rebellion against His Father... OUR imperfect and broken and unworthy lives.
We can't do it, but He did... and He offers the merit of His perfect life accounted to our lives, the full payment of the punishment we deserve, and the proof of God's seal of approval on His actions - the Resurrection.
Consider your life, consider what lies beyond life... and reach out to grasp His gift.
