At least, the politicians in Washington are showing their kinship with the fwench surrender-monkeys.
I can't believe it. America used to be a strong, confident country, full of "can do!" attitude and determination. Now, we hobble our Army's feet, glorify criminals, and encourage our children to be passive. We have lost the independence of spirit and the gut-deep perseverance of our fore-fathers. We scorn the honor and courage they displayed, and shame them with the stains on the integrity of this country. We have turned away from their steadfast example, and listen instead to false prophets who cry out, "Peace! Peace!" when THERE IS NO PEACE!
I think that even JFK (the real one, not the fwench one currently serving in the Senate) is spinning in his grave! The man who faced down Moscow during the Cuban Missile Crisis would surely be deeply ashamed at the cowardice his party showed in the House and Senate yesterday.
And notice that Virginia's senior senator, for all that he is a RINO, voted to do the right thing. Our junior senator, James "Born Fighting" Webb, however, voted to cut and run. "Born Fighting"? Bah. "Born Fighting" for power and influence, perhaps, but not for our troops, not for his constituents, and not for our country's safety, security and honor.
The perfidy and duplicity of their actions is clearly outlined over at Let Freedom Ring. Ah, that we have fallen so far, that we have elected such "leaders"!
Michelle Malkin suggests we send these cowards a white feather to show our scorn for their faintheartedness and their selfish and dastardly actions. GM agrees, as does Chrys at Pettifog, among others (make sure you check links and trackbacks!).
Chrys was kind enough to get this picture of me and my feather -
Cowards. Cowards and abominations, to smear the courage and honor of this country so! Cowards and oathbreakers, to want to abandon those who are so desperately in need of our help! Cowards and traitors, to encourage and aid our enemies in such an underhanded way in a time of war!
Cowards and backstabbers to do this to our courageous troops!

The blood of our armed forces, the blood of Iraqi citizens, and the blood of our murdered citizens is on their hands.
And may God have mercy on their souls, for they will surely answer to Him for thier actions.
Bend over, citizens. Here it comes. Soon America will be just like everyone else: pandering to murderers, cowering before terrorists, and appeasing blackmailers. Our daughters will be wearing burkas, our sons will be encouraged to slay innocents to gain paradise, and anyone who dares object will be scourged or killed for slandering Mohammed-How's-the-Weather-in-Hell-You-Monster.
God help us!

The blood of our armed forces, the blood of Iraqi citizens, and the blood of our murdered citizens is already on Bush's hands.
And may God have mercy on his soul, for he will surely answer to Him for his actions.
The current bill asks for the removal of the troops - as in no more blood on the hands of anybody. That's bad, why? The current bill says we will move our troops back, not out. The iraqi's (79%) want us out. The american people (70% now) want us out. What's wrong with you people that this doesn't compute.

Remember, Harry Reid called the war in Iraq a "quagmire" and compared it to Vietnam. He said it would "drag on" indefinitely, costing billions. He accused the president of failing to specify how long our troops would have to stay, and he urged the administration to withdraw. When "the body bags start coming home," Reid said, it's time to cut our losses.
Reid kept going, talking about the need for peace. "The White House has bombed its way around the globe," he sneered. "International respect and trust for America has diminished every time we casually let the bombs fly." As for the current war plan, Reid complained that "no one wants us to be there" and that the president's crusade "has harmed [our] standing in the world."
And given the climate, I suppose Reid was pushing his luck when he urged Congress to de-fund the war and "pull out the forces we now have in the region." What's worse, Reid basically made the United States look like the bad guy. Once a U.S.-led coalition "starts meddling in the internal affairs of sovereign nations, where does it stop?" Reid asked. He charged that we were "starting to resemble a power-hungry imperialist army" and portrayed our mission as an "occupation by foreigners."
Are all of these comments harsh? Do they undermine the troops while they're in harm's way? Do they amount, literally, to "treason"?

They are the same people who protested the Vietnam War which resulted in us losing that war and walking away for the first time in our history. THAT resulted in the deaths of 3 million who had supported us there - it also resulted in diminishing the reputation of the United States.
That was the first time the world knew we could be beaten and we could not be trusted. It has affected our relations with the world every since.
There's a lot of blood on their hands and there will be more. But they have great portfolios and great retirement plans. It's all about 'me' right? The 'Me' generation. Those of us who still believe in honor, integrity and love of country are dinosaurs.
Great rant, Cat :)

Unfortunately, what is there to do? We are a leaderless nation. We have elected cowards -- and a majority of them. Short of shooting them, there's really not a lot of options. :(

Orge, you sound like my husband. He says the problem is we are a rudderless ship - we have no strong leaders. In the past we have always had someone who rose to the occasion. No one seems to be doing that now.

Anyone remember Bush in 2004 saying on the Today show that he didn't think we could win the war on terror? Where was the canned indignation against him?
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/31/politics/campaign/31bush.html?ex=1251691200&en=b257721394890931&ei=5090&partner=rssuserland
Did anyone notice that terror attacks were up again last year?
"The number of terrorism incidents in Iraq -- and resulting deaths, injuries and kidnappings -- skyrocketed from 2005 to 2006, according to statistics released by U.S. counterterrorism officials yesterday.
Of the 14,338 reported terrorist attacks worldwide last year, 45 percent took place in Iraq, and 65 percent of the global fatalities stemming from terrorism occurred in Iraq. In 2005, Iraq accounted for 30 percent of the worldwide terrorist attacks."
This would mean Bush is losing the war on terror BY DEFINITION. Only bin Laden would consider this record a success.
