I've really been disgusted by the continual creep of the Federal Government into areas where it has no Constitutional right. It offends me as a citizen and as a conservative who loves our Founding Documents and the founding principles of this country.
This morning, I see that Duncan over at And Rightly So has posted that Texas is finally fed up with this too, and has taken steps to address the issue. Here's the summary of the bill (ARS has the full text):
Affirming that the State of Texas claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the U.S. Constitution, serving notice to the federal government to cease and desist certain mandates, and providing that certain federal legislation be prohibited or repealed.
Virginia, you are the "Mother of Presidents"! Many of our distinguished Founders and Presidents have come from the Commonwealth, and served with honor and integrity. Why are we not on the forefront of this movement??
It would take political leadership that is willing to push to a Constitutional crisis - state or national.
Risky business to defy an order from the federal executive, legislature or judiciary. You have to be willing to go to jail or face huge fines for your principles.
Name a pol who would do that? For real, not just posture.

Several states are acting and taking back their sovereign rights. I had a letter from a group encouraging me to contact reps because they were voting on this type of legislation in NH. If I still have it I will forward it to you. Activism of this type is really our only hope in my way of thinking.
