The ESV Study Bible - I'm actually doing pretty well with my Bible reading this year. I'd started out with MacArthur's Daily Bible, but decided to switch to the reading plan in Table Talk magazine. This way, I only need to carry one Bible with me, and since the ESV Study Bible is a hefty monster (but sooooo AWESOME!), switching plans made sense.
Just this week, I began reading a great classic of Christian theology and doctrine: Calvin's Institutes of the Christian Religion. I am going to go through this very carefully, underlining and making notes since I really want to understand and retain the information. This is no light read, so I'm only dealing with one chapter per day at most.
I've also decided - this morning - to take this book off the "later" shelf and crack it open. Sowell's Applied Economics is another book that must be read actively, but it's come highly recommended, and I'm looking forward to learning a lot from it.
Finally, courtesy of Mom, Jonah Goldberg's Liberal Fascism. I'm thinking of adding it to my reading schedule, but may wait until after I've finished Sowell's book. I've got enough heavy reading on my plate, and I don't want to overload, LOL!
So, that's what I'm reading... What about you?

Liberal Fascism is a profound read. I recommend that you read it as a "stand alone."

Hmmmm. Well, right now I've got bookmarks in Edward Lasker's Chess: The Complete Self-Tutor and Charles Ryrie's Dispensationalism (for years I've said I didn't know enough about dispensationalism to take a position on it one way or another, but this is supposed to be the best case for it available, and I walked by it when it was on sale, so I didn't have much excuse); And I'm browsing through Kageyama's Lessons in the Fundamentals of Go and Hayek's The Road to Serfdom.
I second the recommendation on Liberal Fascism. Well worth your time.

I've got Hayek's book, too. While I was down in Orlando the week after Mothers' Day, Mom bought me Institutes, Bondage of the Will (Luther), and Hayek...
Don't I have a wonderful Mommy???? ;-)

I just recently finished up Francine Rivers' "An Echo in the Darkness", the sequel to "A Voice in the Wind." This was my first foray into Christian romance fiction and I am thoroughly hooked! I'm eagerly awaiting the chance to read the third book "As Sure as the Dawn", which picks up the story of one of the other incidental characters.
I've also been reading John Piper's "This Momentary Marriage." I adore John Piper--he's one of my favorite pastors to listen to on MP3 and all his writing is well worth digging in to! I also keep a copy of "Velvet Steel" on my night stand, for the odd poem or two...or ten...

Denita, I would also HIGHLY recommend 'most anything by Lori Wick.
She's an excellent writer, and does a good job describing the
Christian life. One of my favorites of hers is "Bamboo and Lace."

Thanks, Kat! I've only recently ventured into the realm of Christian fiction (beyond the Narnia books) so I've been apprehensive about what I read. There is so much "Christian" fiction out there that is doctrinally mangled and full of unbiblical garbage, and I don't want to be led down a storyline only to find I've wasted my time on poison and lies. It makes picking out a good book (you know, besides the Good Book!) so very hard!

That's quite a heavy list! I'm reading G. Campbell Morgan (10 vol.) and a selection from Martin Luther and Liberty and Tyranny. At a yard sale I bought "So your husband's gone to war" published in 1942.

HAH!
Norma, and you're calling my list "heavy"? ;-)
I don't believe I'm familiar with G. Campbell Morgan - I'll have to google him...
