How about as an alternate for "has no moral foundation, much less any principles"?
Brian Kirwin at Bearing Drift alerted me to the newest bit of idiocy from President Obama (and you do not KNOW how much more difficult it is getting to NOT use some of the disrespectful and rude nicknames I have for Obama....)
President Obama, in a pivot from a campaign promise, told Democratic senators Tuesday that he is willing to consider taxing employer-sponsored health benefits to help pay for a broad expansion of coverage.
Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., said Obama expressed a willingness to consider changing the existing tax exclusion. The decision probably would anger liberal supporters such as labor unions, but such a tax change would raise enormous sums of money as Congress and the White House struggle to find the estimated $1.2 trillion needed to pay for an overhaul of health care over the next decade.
Yeah, that's the completely unbiased and totally non-partisan Seattle Slimes oops Times.
A "pivot."
You know, if the tone-deaf and too-comfortable-on-their-asses... persons... in Washington DC would actually STOP SPENDING MONEY WE DON'T HAVE... Ah, no... why bother? The sheeple want their free money, and so the government will write more and more bad checks while trying to extort more "revenue" out of the pockets of those of us who actually work and produce goods and services...
Socialism looms close on the horizon, and the destruction of this wonderful country cannot be far behind.
I will give the Seattle Times some props, though - here's the last sentence in their article:
Nevertheless, the issue represents treacherous politics for Obama, given his attacks on Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., who advocated a similar approach during the campaign. [emph. mine]
C'mon, hon...we're here to represent God's Kingdom, not earthly politics. As tempting as it is to call them every name in the book, as much as they throw themselves on our bad side, all we can do is see them for the worldly, fallen mess they (and we!) are and pray for them and keep the faith. We're aliens and sojourners, hon, and this is the reason why.
Soon enough, there will be a day when; being offended at what the light does, the world will try to snuff it out of us. Fist-waving and name-calling only shows the chinks in our spiritual armor to the Enemy.
Trust me, I have to fight mightily to keep from falling into despair, and raising my own verbal fist. You know what a reputation I used to have for...erm, creative epithets...back in the old Rottweiler days. I see so much I want to scream about, but we are called to a battle that transcends borders and politics. And ultimately, the battle is not ours, it's God's, and He has a reason for things unfolding the way they are, in Washington as well as the rest of the world.

I know, I know - probably the only reasons I HAVEN'T dragged out those nicknames is that I am a Christian and I refuse to stoop to the vile and dastardly rhetoric of the looney left.
But ooooooooo it's tempting!
And I know the battle is God's - but I don't think He means us to sit back and let things happen without at least commenting on governmental and societal wrongs...

Oh we're only human, and we're stuck on this earth for a span and so it certainly isn't beyond us to comment on, or to take civil action against, an earthly situation. Nor is it a crime for us to feel passionate about certain things, as long as they are built upon the godly frame of the true Christian mindset. It's just that we're also called to keep our eyes on the Kingdom which is eternal and above the filthy morass that is human government in all its forms.
But screaming about a situation, rather than polite action, is counter-productive to the Christian. I also know I don't have to tell you how important it is to pray and to consult the Bible concerning any earthly matter you find yourself inflamed over. ;-)
Christ came to earth not to rule as merely king of Jerusalem, but to die for our sins and to rule over ALL the nations--America included. And He rules over ALL people--"loony left" and "right-wing ideologues" and the RINO's and the Commies and the apolitical and the politically confused alike. The best witness one can offer is to bridle their tongue (Paul was right about how such a little thing that can create such a huge fire!), and let their life and their words reflect Him who came and died for all, even those who don't acknowledge Him.
I want to make it very clear, though, that I'm also speaking as someone who is still prone to opening my mouth and sticking my foot in it so frequently, it's a wonder I don't have toe-prints on my soft palate. I have a log the size of the General Sherman redwood in my eye, and I'll probably spend my entire mortal life pleading with God to help me dig it out! I call upon you as my Christian sister to hold me as accountable for my own behavior and words as I do you, hon. And curse me if I get so caught up in my pride that I fail to take your God-breathed advice!

Well, and I refuse to submit to the stereotypes of how non-Christians think we ought to behave. Paul used biting sarcasm, and Jesus had no problems calling the "religious folks" snakes and hypocrites. So I certainly don't ascribe to the "speak only sweetness and light" drivel.
That being said, however, I do have to be careful that I use language and words correctly. That is why I now refrain from using derisive nicknames for the President: I may not have voted for him, I may abhor his policies, but I respect the office of President (something the vitriolic left cannot seem to grasp).
To be frank, I confess that although I know He rules over all portions of the political spectrum, there are a few groups that behave so poorly and display nothing but self-righteous hatred of anything outside of what they think, that I am completely astounded that some attempt to call themselves Christian. Certainly I do not know their souls, and certainly I myself am not perfect - but I can discuss civilly and agree to disagree with pretty much anyone who attempts calm reasoning and a willingness to display courtesy. I haven't seen a lot of that in some groups - and I do include some of the right-wing ideologues in that assessment *sigh*
