The first thing that surprised me about Auschwitz is that it is not as secluded these days as I expected; it is just right there in what seems like the middle of this average small town. It’s just…right there. It is jarring. There’s a busy parking lot about 50 yards from the “front door,” a lot that is filled with buses and cars and noisy tourists. Again. Very jarring.
Rachel Lucas is one of my favorite bloggers - she can talk about pretty much anything (and does), and does so in her own style which can make you laugh or cry... Or change your world view.
I read this post early this morning, and it reminded me of my visit to Dachau back in 1980.
I urge you to go over to Rachel's and read her post, and remember the depths of depravity and cruelty that humans can descend to - and vow to keep earnest watch so we can stand fast against this sort of obscenity.
