... holding ALL federal government (i.e., the President, Congress critters, advisers, aides, assistants, IRS auditors, etc., not the military) salaries to no more than 10% (see? I'm being generous) above the national mean for private business' salaries.
Because, while the lunatics running the asylum (all those DemonRATS and RINOs) - including the head lunatic - are running up our national deficit (oh, and you do remember that the White House just recently revised their estimates UP by two trillion - that's with a "t" - but what's a trillion or two between friends, huh?), look at their salaries:

Government service is supposed to be just that: a service to your country. It's not a place at the slop trough.
And while we're working on it, anyone in this category caught screwing up on their taxes ought to pay 200% of the penalty that regular folks do, the IRS should assume they're guilty until proven innocent, AND if they mess up on a tax item in a bill they voted FOR, the penalty ought to go to 400%.
Just to kind of level the playing field and remind people leeching around in D.C. that they're citizens of this country, too, and not above the law...
The better way to look at this would be the whole salary plus benefits package. This can vary in buying power depending on the cost of living in a particular locality. In addition, benefits are often "back loaded," e.g., the employer may grant more vacation time per year after a number of years of service. Just some food for thought.

Well, that's probably true - I just posted this as an instigating thought. But the feds have so abused (IMHO) their position in D.C. that I'm pretty much in the mood of "Benefits? You want benefits?!"
Maye if they had the same vacation/health/retirement benefits available that went with the salary limits I suggested...?

Nah. I'd just advocate a Constitutional amendment mandating annual "counseling sessions" with Dr. Tarr and Mr. Fether for ALL government bureaucraps and elected officials. Yeh, yeh, we'd have massive resignations annually juuuust before the scheduled "counseling sessions" but would that be a bad thing? *heh*
