Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?”
Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”. (John 4:10-14, NKJV)
On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” (John 7:37-38, NKJV)
They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” (Revelation 7:16-17, NKJV)
It's been so crazy this season! So many things are happening, and we are preparing for so many changes, that time has just raced along and slipped right by me. True, my time management skills - off the job, anyway - are not the best, but there never seem to be enough minutes in the day. As you can see, I'm hardly keeping up with this Advent series (although I am adding to the archives as I can - one post a day, remember! Aiiigh! LOL)
Yesterday as I was driving home, I heard something on the radio or off of the music on my Droid (I can't remember) that made me think of John 4:10 - "living water." I don't recall what it was exactly, but "living water" popped right into my head, and I thought, "Oh, Lord, I'm so tired and so thirsty... I need to be refreshed by You!"
When it comes to drinking water, I am really terrible! I'll sip some wine, savor coffee, swill sweet tea, gulp milk and so on, but I forget the pure, refreshing perfection of cold, clear water. Our bodies need to be properly hydrated to function properly; why do I expect anything different for my spirit and soul?
Jesus sits by the well and calls us to come to Him and drink from the Living Water. Drink fully and drink deeply, for there is a never ending supply to refresh and renew us. The more of Him we drink, the more of Him flows out from us to refresh and renew everyone we meet!
Jesus, let me come to You and drink. Let me immerse and lose myself in You. Clothe me in Your perfection, and may Your life and power renew my spirit every day!
