Oh glorious love of Christ my Lord Divine,
That made Him stoop to save a soul like mine;
Through all my days and then in Heaven above,
My song will silence never, I'll worship him forever,
And praise Him for His glorious love.
("Oh Glorious Love" by the Talley Trio)
Thought you may like this brutally honest account of church by a fellow Christian. This comes from the Third Option Men blog... http://ow.ly/2Ysbd

Have you taken a hard look at where your "church" is spending YOUR donations?
Most Baptist, Methodist, Episcopalian and Catholic churches support people who HATE America. The Catholics are behind much of the illegals here in the USA.
If you want to take part in the hysteria, that all organized religion is, then choose carefully.
I will pray especially for you misguided Baptists. Learn to dance, for Christ's sake!

Wow, Clarise - a lot of anger there. Is it the church in general that you despise, or just all churches except the one you go to? Oh, wait - you don't like "organized religion."
You tell me to learn to dance (sorry - can't do that; I might break my other ankle, and my poor attempts at graceful movement look more like seizures anyway) "for Christ's sake," and yet it is by His command that His family of followers gather together in worship. Rather a contradiction on your part, don't you think?
I also find it interesting that there is an implied assumption that my church is one of the more fundamentalist churches who think dancing is a sin - not true. We are simply a small congregation who love God and biblical teaching, and are trying to be good and diligent disciples of our wonderful Savior.
And, in that light, I pray that God sends His Spirit to bring peace and grace to your heart, and to reveal His amazing kindness and goodness. I pray that He draws you to Himself and places you in a church body that can help build you up in love and wisdom so that your life reflects the glory of the Living God, our Savior, Jesus Christ.

It is so hard to joke around with Baptists. They just don't get oblique allusions like, "...learn to dance, for Christ's sake..."
So, here's another joke for you:
Two elderly black women are just getting into their rural church one Sunday, when one turns to the other and asks, "Dorothy, where is your sister Louisie, this morning?
Dorothy replies in her country accent, "Why, she is in bed with arthor-rightus, again!
To this, her friend exclaims, "Oh! I know those Rightus boys... and Arthur can keep you in bed, all day!"
Need further proof that God has a sense of humor?
Baptists!

It's so hard to joke around angry people. They just don't get blatant humor like, "... my poor attempts at graceful movement look more like seizures anyway."
And, actually, for God's sense of humor, I think a more amusing example might be a platypus *grinz*
So, why don't you look for a good, doctrinally sound church (you know, one that actually teaches the Bible) and learn to laugh with the joy God offers to all who come to Him? Or, would you prefer to sit on your high horse with all the rest of the secular hypocrites and think that you're better than you are?
Oh, and before you jump on me for the "hypocrites" statement, yes, I do realize that the church is full of hypocrites as well. As a matter of fact, I am one, myself. Don't forget, however, that the church is not a museum of saints but rather a hospital for needy sinners. I know that I'm a sinner, and I know that I am far from perfect. By God's grace, kindness, mercy and power I am better than I was - and not as good as I will be as His will works in my life to conform me to the image and likeness of His Son.
I can point you over to Mars Hill Church in Seattle as an example of what looks to me to be a healthy, joyful, and biblical church. Pastor Mark's sermon from last week, Jesus and Religion, might be a good introduction for you.
