She's completely off base in some things!
I finished the 32nd book in the series, Treachery in Death, yesterday and decided to go back and re-read from the beginning (yes, even I have my guilty pleasures, LOL!). I've just gotten up to the third book, where Eve is introduced to Leonardo, who will design her wedding gown, for her first consult. He says that Eve is 5' 9" and weighs one hundred and twenty pounds!
Folks, I'm 5' 2", and one-twenty is at the lower end of my healthy weight range: There is no way that Eve Dallas can weigh 120 and be fit and tough enough to handle all the a**-busting she does in each novel!
Plus, Rourke, Eve's love-interest, is described as being 6' 1" (or 2") and weighing 173. My husband, God love him, is 5" 11" and got down to 170 just before I gave birth to our daughter 15 years ago. The last month of my pregnancy, I outweighed him - and he was toooooo slim! He'd been biking to and from work and had, frankly, become quite scrawny, IMHO. At 6'1 or 2", I certainly wouldn't see a man weighing only 173 as anything but a scarecrow, although it's marginally more believable than Eve's weight issue.
Anyway. That's my rant for the day - frivolous, I know, but these little details can drive me pretty batty with irritation...
Kat,
I found you. I'll ask you to read this and comment:
http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles/2011/08/29/do-you-understand-happening-church-culture
The direction of my comments on VV were mostly directed toward GregL of bvbl fame. First, he says he is a Christian. I know the church he attends and the pastor. Second, he decided to support a conservative Mormon over a conservative Christian. Third, in order to support the conservative Mormon he threw another conservative Christian under the bus. I think that is very sad.
I am amazed how much more those of other religions will do for their beliefs than Christians do for theirs. I truly do believe the Bible is the word of God and I do believe in the teachings of 1 Corinthians 6. Several years ago I heard Janet Parshall speak about this on her program. I believe her husband wrote a book on this very topic.
There should be more Christians involved in politics and in every facet of life. We are to be reflecting God's light. I noticed you mentioned John MacArthur. He supports the ministry I linked in this post.
Please give me a fair shot and read the link above and tell me what you think.
Thank you!

Kat,
The link I gave you explains my position.
Thanks again!

Ohhh, and don't EVEN get me started on Nora's faulty location (and other) research.... She tells good stories, don't get me wrong, but GEEZ she's a lousy researcher! She set a trilogy in my part of the country sometime back, and I couldn't decide whether to laugh or cry over the constant factual and geographical errors.... In "The Villa" she had it snowing in Napa (NOT!) and she also had somebody getting a quickie divorce in California, and they didn't go to Reno to do it. Again, NOT.
I think the funniest, though, was in one of her category novels, set in Denver, where she sent the characters on a police call to a very upscale neighborhood in . . . Federal Heights. I laughed so hard I almost fell off my bed. See, last time I was there, Federal Heights' main features were mobile home parks and K-Mart.
Okay, rant over with now..... :)
